OUR MISSION: BREAKING BARRIERS, BUILDING OPPORTUNITIES

The National Association of Formerly Incarcerated Social Workers (NAFISW) is committed to removing systemic barriers that limit access to social work education, field placements, professional licensure, and career advancement for formerly incarcerated individuals.

Through advocacy, education, professional development, and community building, we work to promote equitable opportunities, challenge stigma, and ensure that lived experience is recognized as a valuable strength within the social work profession.

Our mission is to create a more inclusive profession where justice-impacted social workers have the opportunity to lead, serve, and thrive.
